A Lament for the Fallen Heroes

“More Sokol Pie” (Lo’ the Falcon is Drinking) is an old lament from the Balkans. It tells of a woman who comes out to the battlefield after the battle and begins to wail pitifully. She sees a falcon and asks the bird if it saw the horrible wounds and deaths that befell the valiant heroes.
I sang this age old (and almost sacred) song in the Mongolian wilderness in order to present my ancestral heroes, my tradition and history to the Mongolian Elders and to the Spirit. Mongolia, its elders and their heroes from the past saw me and understood where I came from. I introduced my homeland, my ancestors and myself.
This was a part of the performance art I presented in Mongolia.
