HONORING

Before we allow our talents to stand up and present themselves, before we give them space to flourish, primarily, in our hearts and let our spirits roam freely, first we must set ourselves and our freedoms free. We must unclench our teeth and fill our lungs top-full of air, and be ourselves, distinctive and unmolded, free to make our own decisions and have our own thoughts. But it also means being selfless as much as self-assured, being brave and resolute, taking full responsibility for our actions, and being willing to work hard. Freedom is a path full of traps, and staying unfettered isn’t easy. Jailers and prisoners are many, and the free ones so few.

My art is organic in nature. My art is spiritual. My art is ritual-based. It seeks to renew our alliances with the Spirit of Nature and with our healthy, noble and honourable Ancestors. My art pleads with the Divine for our deliverance and healing. It both interprets and weaves hidden symbols. For the sake of preserving organic nature and ancestral tradition. For these and the future generations to come. May we preserve our identity and the light of our souls.
